Non-Cook Prepares 5 Dinners a Week Now Thanks to Real Paleo

I am a recent Paleo convert and I chose this book because of the title. Other Paleo cookbooks looked good, but these recipes looked tasty and easy to make. I also felt that trying the cookbook by the leader in Paleo was probably a good idea. I have tried several "Fast and Easy Recipe" cookbooks, and have been disappointed that the recipes were neither fast, easy nor tasty. I can say that Cordain's Real Paleo cookbook is filled with fast, easy and tasty recipes. I am not a chef, so I am thrilled to put a healthy dinner on the table in an hour or less. In time, I am sure I will be able to prepare these meals in 30 minutes. I must admit that I prior to this purchase, I have had little success preparing daily meals for my family: I have felt accomplished if I prepared 2 of 5 weekday meals. I have used Cordain's cookbook for 3 weeks now. After the first week, I wanted to write a review, but thought I had better give it more time before shouting from the mountain tops. This is a fabulous book. I have prepared 15 different recipes from this book, and every meal has been well received from all my children and my husband. I am now able to consistently prepare 5 meals a week for my family. I cannot recommend this book enough. The only possible downside is that he does not use salt. I have been true to the recipes except twice when I added salt to the scallops and one time to a flank steak. Since my problem prior to beginning Paleo was sugar, these saltless recipes are not a problem for me; I appreciate the flavors of the recipes. My kids and husband sometimes add Spike. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

Although the recipes are truly Paleo they are not as fast and easy as I would have liked. It seems most recipes call for added
recipes (sauces, spice mixures, dressings) to make the dishes which can be time consuming. I would have liked recipes to
be a bit simpler as I am new to this type of diet.

This is my favorite paleo cookbook to date

This is my favorite paleo cookbook to date. Love the quick meals in 30 minutes or less. Easy recipes to make and follow. He does not salt anything but in most cases, it's fine without it. I do find myself adding a tad of salt to some but overall, this is filled with many tasty easy to make recipes. Have made over 30 recipes in the short time I've had it and the majority are very good.

About the Author
Rodney Bowsher writes poetry, short stories and memoirs from the tranquil surroundings of his Devon cottage at the foot of the Raddon Hills. He is a regular performer at Taking the Mic sessions in Exeter and contributes poems to The Brooke, his village magazine. His work can also be seen on Raddon Lines, a local literary site at www.raddonlines.co.uk He believes his writing has been informed by first-hand experience in a variety of jobs. He has been a soldier, musician, salesman, mini-cab driver, retail assistant manager, mature student, bookseller and primary schoolteacher. His hobbies have included keyboard jazz, golf, sea-fishing, watching horse-racing, and clay-pigeon shooting. Now retired, he is drawing on his past, to 'empty the bucket' and further develop his creative writing skills. His ambitions are simple: he hopes readers will enjoy his work.

Poignant and wry

This poet 's wry and occasionally cheeky observations underpin a mature understanding of life: both the connections and the apart-ness of human interactions, and the odd bits of memory that resonate in later years ("Photographic Memory," "Long Ago"). Some are simply done, but their effect remained with me long after reading them. Mr. Bowsher is skilled at capturing and savoring life's simple pleasures. Well worth a read.

His research and professional interests are concentrated in demand and price forecasting, electricity market design, competitive pricing & bidding, integrated resource planning, energy conservation and energy efficiency, economics of global climate change, sustainability, energy security, renewable energy technologies, and comparative performance of competitive electricity markets. Dr. Sioshansi advises major utility clients and government policy makers domestically and internationally on electricity market reform, restructuring and privatization of the electric power sector. He has published numerous reports, books, book chapters and papers in peer-reviewed journals on a wide range of subjects. His professional background includes working at Southern California Edison Co. (SCE), Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), NERA, and Global Energy Decisions. He is the editor and publisher of EEnergy Informer, a monthly newsletter with international circulation. He is on the Editorial Advisory Board of The Electricity Journal where he is regularly featured in the “Electricity Currents” section. About the Author

Marvin Bittinger has been teaching math at the university level for more than thirty-eight years. Since 1968, he has been employed at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, and is now professor emeritus of mathematics education. Professor Bittinger has authored over 190 publications on topics ranging from basic mathematics to algebra and trigonometry to applied calculus. He received his BA in mathematics from Manchester College and his PhD in mathematics education from Purdue University. Special honors include Distinguished Visiting Professor at the United States Air Force Academy and his election to the Manchester College Board of Trustees from 1992 to 1999. Professor Bittinger has also had the privilege of speaking at many mathematics conventions, most recently giving a lecture entitled "Baseball and Mathematics." His hobbies include hiking in Utah, baseball, golf, and bowling. In addition, he also has an interest in philosophy and theology, in particular, apologetics. Professor Bittinger currently lives in Carmel, Indiana, with his wife Elaine. He has two grown and married sons, Lowell and Chris, and four granddaughters.

David Ellenbogen has taught math at the college level for nearly 30 years, spending most of that time in the Massachusetts and Vermont community college systems, where he has served on both curriculum and developmental math committees. He has taught at St. Michael's College and The University of Vermont. Professor Ellenbogen has been active in the American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges (AMATYC) since 1985, having served on its Developmental Mathematics Committee and as a delegate. He has been a member of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) since 1979. He has authored dozens of texts on topics ranging from prealgebra to calculus and has delivered lectures on the use of language in mathematics. Professor Ellenbogen received his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Bates College and his master’s degree in community college mathematics education from The University of Massachusetts–Amherst. In his spare time, he enjoys playing piano, biking, hiking, skiing and volunteer work. He currently serves on the boards of the Vermont Sierra Club and the Vermont Bicycle Pedestrian Coalition. He has two sons, Monroe and Zachary.

Barbara Johnson has a BS in mathematics from Bob Jones University and a MS in math from Clemson University. She has taught high school and college math for 25 years, and enjoys the challenge of helping each student grow in appreciation for and understanding of mathematics. As a Purdue Master Gardener, she also enjoys helping others learn gardening skills. Believing that the best teacher is always learning, she recently earned a black belt in karate.

Worst math book I've ever had to use

Poorly written. The book doesn't so much teach as it does give you a couple examples to learn from. Plus the examples that are given are generally nothing like the actual problems you are asked to solve. Also many of the questions are oddly worded or written as if they are trying to be trick questions. Overall, if you are relying more on the book to teach you than on your actual teacher, this book is really an awful book. It should not be a required algebra textbook.
