Good Starter but a lot of errors, unfortunately

I am new to C++ but have done a fair bit of programming in C, Objective C and Java, so I thought i'd take a look at a "crash course" to get me started. This book is really good for that, but it has a lot of errors, which although not really affecting the readability of the instruction - are very frustrating and make me wonder if the book was proof read at all. That aside, i think the book does a good job, I think it would suit beginners who want a starter book before jumping into a large over-whelming text book which they may not understand right off the bat.

I really enjoyed how this book not only explained how to do some pretty cool things with C++, but it also included a history of C++. This crash course is an excellent introduction to the topic and I feel well versed on the topic after this single book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is new to the subject and looking for a clean concise explanation for how to get started. There are numerous examples that will contribute to your better understanding. Grab this book if you would like to learn more or keep it as a future reference.

Just mediocre.

I was anxious to receive this book, since it was praised as one of the best books available in the area of environmental microbiology. After reading through the pages, I just couldn't agree with this statement.
Here are some of the good points of this book: It's written in a fairly easy to understand language and provides a lot of pictures and graphs to illustrate important concepts.
Here are the bad points: It summarizes a lot and leaves out a lot of details and information. Whoever buys this book better know something about biochemistry and microbiology already. The graphs and pictures are sometimes ridiculous and of poor quality, almost like they were done at a home PC.
The book would be best for somebody who is a hobby environmentalist that wants to expand his/her knowledge, or undergraduate students of biology who want to explore the environmental aspect of microbiology out of curiosity. If you are serious about environmental microbiology and really want to get into it on a more professional level, I suggest the "Manual of Environmental Microbiology" 2nd edition, published by the American Society for Microbiology. It's a little more expensive, but worth every penny!

I love the books Eleanor Burns puts together. My first quilting class was her Quilt In A Day Log Cabin Quilt. She makes the process easy, fun and understandable. This book looks very similar. I took a look through it and I understand now more quickly because of her technique of stripping and keeping it more easily learned and done. Pravo Eleanor Burns and company!!

I love this book, This is my second copy, the first having been eaten by the dog(he loved the book too). The pattern is easy to follow and quick to make. There are so many color combinations you can choose. I have other quilt books as well and while some are easy most only give one size quilt to make and if you want to make a different size you must calculate it out on your own or use trial and error. This Book gives you all the sizes with yardage and binding ideas. While I like the angled corners making a square cornered quilt is also included. This is a great buy and well worth it.

My students need to understand how to work from a pattern so that they will be able to work on their own in the future. Lover's Knot is my favorite of all of her quilts.
