A Great Book for the Times We're In

There's a high frequency of loving awareness coming through this book.

I finished reading it yesterday afternoon and my inner tuning forks were set a vibratin'. I had been noticing a particularly stringent round of discouragement and depression playing out in my mental/emotional field in the past few days. So this morning, I sat with the book again and the guidance on pages 139-153 really came home in a way that was visceral and effective.

The author expresses universal principles that I have been using from Buddhism and Advaita for years - in a way that synergizes the teachings of both, simply, clearly and practically.

The consciousness practices are accessible, loving, kind, simple, humble, doable.

May "The Sovereignty of Love" be of benefit to many and All, far and wide.

Excellent Memoir of an American's Life in Pakistan

Bettie Addleton's book is a well-written, charming and detailed account of her life as wife of Hugh Addleton, a missionary to Pakistan. Combining humor and pathos, she focuses on her warm, close relationships with Pakistani women, her various homes, medical issues, holiday celebrations, food, their three children's education and many other facets of their life. She provides an insightful look at politics and customs in Pakistan from the 1950s onward for their 34 years in this rapidly changing country. This is not just a book for women, but will be enjoyed by men, and should be read by anyone contemplating marriage to a Pakistani person. It also is a fine read for book clubs.

Don't miss this fun read about life in Pakistan!

This is a fantastic book! Don't miss reading it yourself and certainly share it with others. The stories are fun, amazing, humorous, encouraging and God-honoring. And the author, well, she is a one-of-a-kind beautiful godly loving hopeful woman whose presence and hospitality you just never really want to leave. She's had Begum Nasrat Bhutto, the wife and mother of two of Pakistan's prime ministers, for tea at her table. Now she is inviting you to her table, too. Fix yourself a cup of tea, and get to know Bettie through the pages of this book. Get to know the people of Pakistan whom she loves and learn why she loves them. Be warned though: This book is also convicting! After reading its pages, you may just hear God calling you to love someone whom you never thought would be possible to love, maybe an estranged relative or maybe even your Pakistani co-worker or neighbor. Thank you, Bettie, for showing me the gentleness with which Christ loves and the significance of the sacrifice He has made for all of us. "We love because He first loved us" (John 4:19).

A good book to read

No doubt, Mr Lee Kuan Yew was a great man. This book enables us to know more about him. He deserved every tribute and praise by the contributors. He built Singapore from a backward third world to advanced first. His prowess in statecraft and his insight and understanding of international politics were unparalleled in his time. In a moment of reflection, I think life still needs the beauty of poetry apart from GDP, prosperity and growth. I am a Hongkong citizen. The people of Hongkong often said that they regretted that Hongkong did not have a leader like LKY. In fact, LKY had a whimsy if he had his identical twin placed in Hongkong what would happen. Having said that, I still love Hongkong because Hongkong is vibrant, mobile and in a state of disorderly orderly.

A must-read if you want to know Lee Kuan Yew, the man

I haven't read many books about the greatest Singaporean ever lived, but I am guessing that this is probably the first one that reveals the him that people do not see. I am so glad to know more about the man who created the miracle that I am so blessed to enjoy. My life would have been so different if not for him. This book helped me know more about the remarkable dedication our founding Prime Minister brought to his job. It has increased my desire to do more to uphold his legacy. If you would like to know the Lee Kuan Yew behind his public persona, read this book.

The
book, is a collection of essays in praise of LKY by his
colleagues, and friends who were largely his Principal
Private Secretaries. The book considers LKY's working
life, especially his management style, work ethics and
staff relationships.

Working
for the Titan is no easy task. He is always two or more
steps ahead of his staff. None could pull wool over his
eves. His mind was as sharp as a razor blade even after
retirement from political office. He will not hesitate to
knuckle down procrastination and slovenliness.That really
makes one ponder if anything less favourable could have
been featured about LKY by the writers and survived his
guillotine. But then, the writers are all from the cream
of the Singapore Civil Service, brilliant in their own
rights, and of immaculate character. No one can challenge
their facts and honesty of their observations of this
great man.

LKY
expected nothing less from his friends, colleagues and staff
than indisputable loyalty, honesty and discipline in which
truth prevailed.

One
shortcoming in the essays, is that the writers have focused
too much on on LKY's personality traits at the
expense of his humane side. I suppose their remit was
" LKY as a Boss."

Singapore's interest and people have always been
in the fore-front of LKY's polices and actions and,
hence, had less time to socialise.

As
Jennie Chua in her essay (pp 103) puts it the early
Cabinet people were friendly without being pal.

If one

I love this series

Twin's Aiden and Adrian are on Earth looking for their mate to share. While working a case they stumble upon their mate Evangelina.
Evangelina is struggling through life trying to make ends meet as a freelance writer. Just as Aiden and Adrian try to get to know Evangelina things start to get dangerous for her and the twins are forced to travel back to their planet where they intend to woo their mate and tell her they are a dragon.
I really enjoyed the story! The conversation between the twins and their dragon Fadri was so clever, witty, and sometimes made me laugh. I loved the telling of the history of Dragonose. The storyline was amazing and the characters a one of a kind. To me this series is movie worthy. Really looking forward to reading book 3

So the story continues. And what an amazing story. Here we meet King Thoran's twins Aiden and Adrian who live on Earth. While doing their job they meet their mate. Evangeline is a journalist who is struggling with her life. Before they get a chance to get to know each other Evangeline gets injured. Can Aiden and Adrian save her?
Couldn't put the book down. I had to keep reading. It is such a lovely story and we also learn the history behind Dragonose.
Well done Alice Brown and Lady V. Bring on book 3.
